Dr. Michael A. Innes
Mike founded CKS after working on complex sourcing, evidence, and analysis problems for more than twenty years. A recognized specialist in the geopolitics of information, he manages the company’s strategic direction, leads project design and implementation, and routinely advises public and private sector clients.
He spent six years as a NATO official in Afghanistan, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Europe, two years in Iraq with the UN, and seven years early career military service in infantry and other units. He spent a decade running a political risk boutique in London, and now maintains a portfolio of professional activities, including a research profile at King’s College London, and legal operations support to law firms in the UK and the UAE.
Mike is a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and of the Royal Historical Society. He holds a PhD in political science from the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies and a Graduate Diploma in Law from Birkbeck College.
Based in Dubai, Mike divides his time between the UAE, the UK and assignments elsewhere. He writes regularly on geopolitics, technology, and the rule of law for scholarly, trade, and popular outlets.
