There is a word in Japanese.

Jittai.

It means “truth”, “true state”, or “actual condition”.

In some interpretations, jittai is an acknowledgment of substance or state of affairs.

It distinguishes fact from fiction, the objective from the subjective - what is, from wishing it were so.

Jittai is the essence of things.

In a world of extremes and contested meanings, between ideas and hallucinations, it defines us.
